Nurmay Christian Academy (NCA) is a non-profit Christian School serving the rural village of Gotani, Kenya. The school, which originated in 2016 and currently enrolls 160 students (3-year-old Preschool through 3rd grade), is a ministry of Nurmay Missions, an indigenous, faith-based Christian missions movement focused on reaching the unreached and least reached people groups with the gospel in Africa.
Nurmay Christian Academy awaits the arrival of a teacher to help serve the educational, spiritual, and social needs of underprivileged children by providing excellent instruction, fostering creativity, and developing Godly character through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. While the Kenyan staff teaches the core subjects, the new teacher will have the privilege of teaching any of several “enrichment” subjects, such as music, art, drama, computer science, and physical education. She/he will also have opportunity for ministry outside of the classroom, such as ministry through the local church, after school tutoring, and adult literacy.
The ideal candidate for this position is a dedicated Christ-follower who is passionate about seeing children reach their full educational potential and fulfill their God-given destiny. He/She is willing to face the challenges associated with living in rural Kenya where most of the students come from poor families, many of their parents did not finish school themselves, and more than half of the students come from un-churched or Muslim families. Finally, she/he is willing to make a commitment to, at least, one school-year, and to raise his/her own financial support for ministry as a missionary in Kenya.
